In sudden sunshine:The leapOf a squirrel's leap
Despite the mud aheadI wash my boots In the stream
Unhurried rainSummons slugsTo fallen petals
Seeing meFarmer starts workingLike he doesn't enjoy the sunshine
Tattered butterflyOn a wobbly, mile-long missionAcross bare fields
Farmer and IHave been enemiesFor ten thousand years
No sun today;I'm free to walkEither side of the street
I herd white butterflies Down the laneTo meet the lambs
Two miles of DandelionsApplaud my drive home
I see One magpieAnd decide It's two
Old Tom's tools Rust in our shedToo old and strange to use
I take a walkDisguised asA walker
Entry to fieldBlockedBy a single silken strand
Two bent slivers Of soap:Comedy and Tragedy
BuzzardHangs motionlessWhile I circle below
LarksongIs the morning'sSparkle
Waning moonPuncturedBy city spires
Mad, bold day;Even the lambsAre sharpening their teeth
In an April puddleA torn pageEntitled 'Summer'
The roaring of the windBalancedBy the roaring of the blossom
